This past Saturday, I had the pleasure of marrying Dwayne and Jim, from Dallas (otherwise known as “Big D” and “little j”). The two had planned a wedding to perfection.
The ceremony and brunch was staged at the incomparable Gramercy Park Hotel. Every detail shined from the custom made guest book to the unusually magnificent cake prepared by the famed artist Ron Ben-Israel. Jared Slater, of J and J Photography, was there to capture the entire event. I was immediately impressed with Jared and asked if I could present some of his favorite wedding photographs.
Jared explained to me that he has a photojournalistic approach to shooting weddings. He says, “I believe there is no substitute for capturing a spontaneous moment. No matter how well you pose a couple, it is still a posed shot. There is definitely a place for that in weddings, but the images that really speak to me are those that capture the moment, the personality of the couple and the excitement of the wedding day. I’ve noticed that these shots are also the images that my couples are drawn to, since the “transport” them back to the wedding day letting them relive the day every time they view the image.”
I can’t wait to see Jared’s finished photos from Dwayne and Jim’s celebration!
