A Perfect Thanksgiving Wedding

I can’t believe how time flies! Today is the 5th anniversary or my friends Lynn and Michael, who came from Indianapolis to marry in New York. Everything was perfect about their Thanksgiving holiday wedding!

My friends are among the most interesting folks I know who do good works and enjoy life immensely.  Their London proposal led to a New York City wedding in the hilly parts of Central Park, near the Bethesda Fountain.  It was just the three of us and New York City photographer Sascha Reiking.

This private wedding was filled with as much emotion as you can imagine for two grooms who found love “at a certain age.”  I was suited up in full clergy regalia (which I love) including robe and stole.  We used a family bible and included a Celtic handfasting ritual.

As I always say, without the distractions of a larger affair, small weddings can be some of the most emotionally impactful ceremonies you can enjoy.  And finding a time with relative privacy in your location makes it even more special.

To these two superb grooms, I say, “When are you coming back to NYC for a wedding vow renewal?”
