As we all know, weddings are big business in America. Yet, goods and services of all varieties are playing catch up to recognize the recently passed Marriage Equality Law in New York.
I did stumble upon a small, but “sweet,” instance of a wedding gift that embraced couples of all varieties. My office is near Rockefeller Plaza, and I have the distinct pleasure of wandering about a collection of lovely (generally high end) shops during my noontime errands. Strolling on the Promenade of the plaza I pass wonderful stores including Anne Fontaine apparel, Movado Watches, and the Metropolitan Museum Store. Within a one block area of Rockefeller Center, a shopper is greeted by four Chocolate stores: La Maison du Chocolat, Jacque Tores, Godiva, and Teuscher.
Teuscher a Swiss chocolate company started 70 years ago, has a select number of locations around the world including two in New York (at Rock Center and on Madison Avenue). Teuscher generously produces a variety of wedding related favors including the mix and match brides and grooms, pictured above, with each figurine holding exquisite hand-made truffles. Walking into their store is like being surrounded by a glorious Easter basket year-round. There is a breathtaking array of chocolates, as well as amusing packaging options—perfect for bridal showers, gifts for welcome bags for out-of-town wedding guests, ceremony favors, or even a fun item for friends to bestow on newly engaged couples. Take a look next time you are in midtown!
