I Do, I Do, I Do!

In just the last week or two I’ve had the great pleasure to conduct three vow renewal ceremonies, a trend that I hope continues.  Each was uniquely perfect.

My first couple, Tim and Laura were in America from England, celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary with their two beautiful daughters.  Tim had been in touch with me months ago, planning the renewal, as a unique gift to his wife.  And surprised she was as they exchanged vows (again) in Central Park, with his adorable youngsters looking on!

For Toni and John, locals who live in the Hamptons, they too were celebrating a decade since their wedding on Long Island.  On their fifth anniversary, John surprised his wife with a renewal at the famed Little White Chapel in Las Vegas.  He was so organized that he had her wedding dressed shipped to Vegas for the affair.  She in turn secretly planned a vow renewal for their 10th anniversary in Battery Park, followed by a romantic dinner and cruise around Manhattan.

Just last night, Afghanistan Veteran Mike and his wife Susan called me with a delicious request.  Now celebrating their sixth anniversary, each year of their marriage they renewed wedding  vows in a special location in a new city.  In past years they’d celebrated atop the Space Needle in Seattle; on the “Maiden of the Mist,” at Niagara Falls; Savannah, Georgia; and in Las Vegas.  This year, they picked the romantic Cop Cot Gazebo in Central Park.  So, off I went to get cake, flowers, champagne, and more.

As is always the case, each vow renewal was sweet and moving, giving thanks for years in the past and years to come. Thanks to all these couples for allowing me to share in the remembrances and hopes for the future.
