On Cloud 9: Wedding at the Top of the Rock

I had the rare treat last week to officiate my first wedding at the “Top of the Rock” observatory in the beautiful Rockefeller center on 6th avenue between 49th and 50th this week. Sweethearts Lara and Michael were keen to feature the breathtaking views in Manhattan as the exchanged vows with a few loved ones.

Our small bridal party, including my friend photographer Laura Pennace, trekked to the rooftop at disk.  It was clear from the bride’s gown and bouquet that we were “up to something.”  Yet all the building attendants and the guests were delighted by the romantic affair! As we held the ceremony against the Central Park side of the building, a group of happy tourists joined in the celebration…. Snapping pictures and partaking in the requisite blowing of bubbles at the end of the ceremony!

While I should say this was not an officially sanctioned event, if their case was any indicator, a crafty couple can pull of a simple ceremony in this ultra- romantic location. Congratulations Lara and Michael!
