I’m delighted to feature Michael Chadwick’s beautiful photographs of Amanda & Jorge’s September wedding at 202 East. I met Amanda and Jorge many months ago and was captivated by their warmth and sincerity. They selected the auspicious date 9-10-11 for their long-awaited union.
The wedding venue was new to me: 202 East. Although I have lived on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for many years, I never knew this sweet little location existed! For those of you familiar with the UES, it is on E 77th street, between 2nd and 3rd avenues, just a stone’s throw from the Birch Wathen Lenox School. The walk-up brownstone has been converted into a super event space for small to mid-sized weddings, with a clean open backdrop and an airy, arched ceiling. The simple décor of the loft invites every couple to make the decorations their very own. The space can easily accommodate the ceremony and reception, with the ceremony area revamped for dinner and dancing in a blink of an eye.
The beautiful photographs capture the love and energy of the couple and their guests. In describing his approach to wedding photos, Michael says, “I believe in love, and I believe that love transcends all boundaries. I believe that “Act Naturally” is an oxymoron, so I focus my photography on artistically capturing the non-posed and sincere joy and love present on wedding day.”
Amanda and Jorge are of proud Latin ancestry, music and dancing were important elements of the celebration, as you will see in the candid shots. Indeed, several members of the bridal party stole the show with dancing in the aisle during the processional and recessional. I thank Michael Chadwick for sharing photographs from all parts of the day—from getting ready for the ceremony through the reception party.
