I’ve been a card writer for as long as I can remember. And, I’ve made hand-made cards for friends and loved ones for 25+ years. But becoming a wedding officiant has offered me the opportunity to make beautiful hand-made cards for my clients.
I’ve always been partial to vintage looks—be it clothes, home décor, or hand-made cards. These days, with digital photographs, craft stores, and interesting corners of the internet, one can find innumerable options for making one-of-a-kind cards. I have scores of vintage photos (actual photos and reproductions), ephemera including hand-written letters, postcards, stamps, coins, and much more. I like to pair these things with vintage wedding cards, decoration items like ribbons and flowers and unusual objects like watch faces, vintage jewelry, and wrist-watch faces. I use simple collage methods to create multi-dimensional cards. I just adore an evening of turning my apartment into a craft studio.
I’ve no idea if my clients enjoy these cards even a fraction as much as I like creating them. But for now, I trust they receive them in the spirit in which they were intended—a warm, unique greeting card that I hope will end up in their wedding day memory box.
