A recent trend I’ve noticed for smaller and mid-sized weddings, among my couples, is utilizing local restaurants for private parties.  From iconic locations such as the Russian Tea Room to newer spots local restaurants of all varieties provide excellent options for venues allowing pre-ceremony cocktails, weddings, and receptions and dinners.
Brenda and Leslie, for instance, came from North Carolina a few months ago, taking advantage of New York’s Marriage Equality Law, not available (yet) in the Tar Heel State. On recommendation of a local friend, they chose Corkbuzz on East 13th between Fifth Avenue & University.

The vision of young powerhouse Master Sommelier Laura Maniec (one of Crain’s Magazine’s 40 under 40 in 2013), the hotspot includes fine dining, wine tastings, and classes in an elegant downtown space. Brenda and Leslie enjoyed and open set up for theatre style seating during the ceremony, as well as passed hor d’oeurves.
Enjoy a few pictures of their late autumn festivities. Photo above courtesy of Nas Karas Studios.
